Event Description

Telecentre.org and Afrilklinks will organize from the 2nd to the 4th of december of 2008 at Bamako, Republic of Mali, The Francophone telecentres Leaders Forum. This event will be held in partnership with USAID, the French Cooperation and Malian Telecentres Network. This will gather one hundred practitioners, managers, researchers, and financial and technical partners from Africa and elsewhere. The Forum is a space to share knowledge between francophone telecentres leaders who will contribute to setting up a Francophone community telecentres network.
The objectives of the forum are:
- to find solutions and alternatives to the rising costs of connection which constitutes as a major hindrance to the sustainability of Francophone telecenters.
- to increase the importance of the diversification of services and new service options that can be offered to the rural community by sharing several success stories.
- to classify the different types possible for community telecenters memberships and the assets and inconveniences of each model.
- to launch the process of creating the West African telecentres network.
- to launch the process of creating the Telecentre Academy in order to compensate for the need to develop capacities.
