It is accepted that today we are living in the era of Information and IT.
Advance communication technology with the miraculous invention of ‘INTERNET’ has created a global village for the people of 21st century.
Each aspect of our lives has all become addicted to information. Their reliance on information creates opportunities every day, every minute, and every second. Imagine a day without the Internet. What would the impact be?
thanks you Seuwandi Yapa, when we talking about the current world in this 21 century; Internet becomes basic life of human-being here in Somalia we have one internet Provider company Imagine if one day this company meet a problem whole the South central Zone remittances and agencies depending this can't work.
But fortunately UN and INGOs have independent dishes which connect direct to satellite.
we can say in current world " No life with out Internet"
Thank you Hasan, Dora and Iqra for your prompt relies. I hope all of you will participate in this discussion and share your ideas and experiences.
Best :)))
Seuwandi
Yapa!
This is one thing that I always avoid to imagine let alone thinking about it. When the Internet is down even for 10 minutes I feel cut off completely and that I can't deliver. The internet has become a core tool in our day to day life. ICTs as a whole have catalysed the creation, collection, organization and dissemination of information. It is a real revolution But then one would stop and ask how best are we utilizing all this. Do we know wher to go when we need abcd. Do we know who to ask when we can't get the abcd. Do we know how to get the abcd and of all we all able to access?
It would be like a Public Holiday. I would enjoy it :). But on the other hand, I would not be able to connect with my friends or share my thoughts through Facebook, Orkut, twitter, emails, etc. But I would certainly enjoy face to face networking for a while.
A day without the internet means a day that i can devote reading a printed book..not an e-book that is. A day when I can go out and take the time to "smell the flowers" so to speak (fresh flowers, that is) and not the roses that are sent to me through email and talk to my plants (and not just harvest in the farmville) and play with my dog (real dog that is).
But it will probably be a day interspersed with concerns that I could not check my emails..connect with my colleagues at work or my students in our virtual learning environment...
Will the world end if I will not be able to do those things?...If the answer is yes, then it's probably a day to worry about....but then again.. why worry? when the world ends.. of what use is the internet???
I cant afford to imagine a day without internet - were it not for internet certainly you could not have reached us with this discussion;likewise i could not reply;
All of us could be far back in the years of 80s with little activities.
letter writing could take ages to move across with the same pace of replies or not at all for loss.
Loss of data and delay must be the in thing.
You see with a touch of a button you reach so many unlike letter writing.
In terms of cost it is cheap and returns to costs is immediate and definite.
therefore internet is a daily weapon for us to use in communication to advance our interests.
It has just cross my mind few days ago when i was at training my phone was off but i manage to communicate with other people in business relation these has made my life easier as there was ringing of the phone. I don't wanna leave without cause it seems to be the best possible way of communication, even though we pay a lot for internet fees here in South Africa i strongly believe that our life will stand still. thanx Yapa
