Communities need active and dedicated facilitators in order to grow and thrive. As part of its Knowledge Sharing initiative, telecentre.org supports Community Facilitators in partner networks and organizations around the world.

Community Facilitators animate this website — engaging, connecting, and supporting community members.

  • Bridge communities — All facilitators speak English plus at least one other language. They work together to overcome language barriers and connect communities (English, Spanish, French, Arabic). They participate on regional mailing lists, acting as "cross-pollinators" — summarizing discussions, translating blogs, posting announcements, etc. They are always on the lookout for content to send to activists in other areas of the world.
  • Improve and increase content — On this website, Facilitators lead by example, creating profiles and posting blogs, photos, and videos (and sometimes podcasts) that inform and inspire others. They also contribute to telecentre.org Knowledge Sharing initiatives, coordinating and ensuring that content flows between media. Finally, as a group, the Facilitators establish and maintain the Community Guide, so that we all get the most out of this website.
  • Promote participation — Facilitators reach out to members to find out what interests them and help them contribute and get the most out of our online community. They're the ones who send you a welcome message when you join, and they'll help make it easy and fun to blog, post multimedia content, and join discussions. They can also help you promote your event.
  • Network members — Facilitators help community members come to know and trust each other. They connect people with similar interests and needs, strengthen relationships, and promote collaboration and partnerships.

Have questions? Need guidance? Want to volunteer to be a Community Facilitator? Contact the Facilitator for your region or language community, listed below. You can also check out the Community Guide to find out how to get involved.
