telecentre.org

telecentre.org's Knowledge Sharing initiative crosscuts and supports all other social investment program areas. We connect community members and facilitate the widespread sharing of ideas, resources, learning, and best practices. In this way, we strengthen networks, help community members build on each others’ work, and contribute to a healthier telecentre ecosystem. Resources and activities include

  • Community Facilitators — Coordinating a team of people who animate this website and engage, connect, and support community members
  • Helpdesk services — On-demand community development, business, and technical support
  • Knowledge wiki — Mobilizing the community to consolidate and improve telecentre knowledge on Wikipedia
  • Library —  Contributing publications and resources to the Development Gateway's ICT4D Community
  • Telecentre Magazine — Supporting the production of a magazine that provides in-depth review and analysis of the role of public access to technology
  • Telecentre Times — Supporting the production of several newspapers that report on the people, ideas, and activities that fuel the global telecentre movement, focusing on practical topics and day-to-day issues facing telecentre managers
  • Publications & Documentation — Promoting the creation and dissemination of content (blogs, photos, videos) that documents telecentre activities, champions, successes, and learning
  • Events — Support for telecentre network events, including planning, facilitation, and documentation

Since its launch in 2005, telecentre.org has supported more than 40 events, from small groups sharing training materials to national network gatherings to global Telecentre Leaders Forums. These events have led to the creation of over a dozen new telecentre networks as well as joint projects that allow existing networks to share resources, develop joint materials, and produce collaborative publications.
