telecentre.org

telecentre.org's mission is to improve the impact and resilience of telecentres around the world.

We are a global community of people and organizations who share a vision of a world where people everywhere have the opportunity to access technology and use it to join the knowledge economy on their own terms. We work toward a future with

  • Vibrant telecentres in hundreds of thousands of communities
  • Telecentre activists are constantly connected to each other — sharing ideas and resources, coordinating efforts, and lending a helping hand
  • People at the grassroots level using telecentres as places to discover ways to use technology to improve their lives and empower their communities

All telecentre.org partners have committed to a set of common values that guide our activities. First among these is a shared passion to help empower poor, marginalized, and underserved communities. Other values include

  • Knowledge sharing
  • Transparency
  • Inclusiveness
  • Technology neutrality
  • Innovation
  • Collaboration
  • Equity
  • Continuous learning
  • Content creation and localization

To put our knowledge sharing, innovation, and collaboration values into action we encourage our community members to  license all of their outputs using a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike license. This respects intellectual property, enables community members to build on each others' work, supports social enterprise, and makes it easier to translate learning into action.
