Networks give people managing telecentre the raw materials they need to succeed: training, support, marketing, and technology. They also help telecentre people learn and innovate together, to make technology more useful to the communities they serve. More broadly, networks strengthen the entire telecentre ecosystem — acting as connection points between key players and sustaining relationships between activists, researchers, and development partners.

telecentre.org's social investment program provides services to strengthen telecentre networks, including

  • Travel grants and support for staff exchange programs, particularly those that build channels for sharing innovative practices, providing peer support, and developing collaborative projects.
  • Event support or sponsorship, with a focus on gatherings that organize, strengthen, and coordinate national or regional telecentre initiatives. telecentre.org can assist with agenda or session design, facilitation, promotion, and documentation, as well as with developing strategies to leverage post-event enthusiasm and connections.
  • Institutional development, such as identifying key activities and the most appropriate organizational, governance, and sustainability model.
  • Assistance developing or improving services. This including developing social enterprise ideas and identifying government, NGOs, and private sector products and services that can be delivered through member telecentres.
  • Strategic planning, including business planning, partnership development, and fundraising.

Telecentre networks can also participate in a range other activities. Click on each link to learn more.

  • Knowledge Sharing — Support and facilitation to ensure the widespread sharing of ideas, resources, learning, and best practices
  • Research — Opportunities to participate in telecentre.org research activities, or use findings to improve their work
  • telecentre.org Academy — Support and coordination for telecentre manager training programs, including access to training materials and ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Content & Services — An effort to identify and create products, services, and content that can be delivered through telecentre networks, driving community development and generating revenue to sustain telecentre operations

Since its its launch in 2005, telecentre.org has supported the development and work of more than 20 networks. Through online networking and investment in more than 40 events, from small gatherings to global Telecentre Leaders Forums, we've gathered a community people and organizations from around the world who believe that telecentres have an important role to play in development. Are you a network? Consider joining the community. Want to create or strengthen a network? We'd love to hear from you.  Contact Meddie Mayanja to learn more.
