Participating in the telecentre.org community will benefit your organization in many ways:
- Promotion opportunities — lets others know what you're doing and why it's important
- Increased credibility as part of a knowledge partnership
- Collective strength can lead to new funding opportunities and influence policy
- Staff more effective because of access to problem-solving through community members
- New ideas and solutions can lead to more innovations
- Participating at a global level complements and re-enforces regional knowledge sharing activities
In the
Members section, you'll see the organizations and individuals that make up the community. We encourage you to create a profile page for your organization (
see telecentre.org's profile). You can customize your page to match your brand, add RSS feeds, and contribute blogs, attach files, and post photos and videos.
It's great if your staff members also want to join as individuals. But we're serious about privacy. So each member owns their content. This means that if your employee decides to
leave the community then they can take all of their content with them — including valuable organizational contributions.

Here are a few tips to get you started.
- Organization Ning ID — We suggest you use a generic email address to sign up that will stay with your organization even if your staff come and go (we use community@telecentre.org). You can share this ID with staff members that can be responsible for maintaining the organizational profile or uploading content.
- Image — In order for your logo to display correctly you must crop it or save it as a square image. It looks best at 175x175 pixels.
- RSS and Text box — Use these features on your profile page to feature links and content from your own website, or to link to staff profiles and blogs. We put a text box at the top of the telecentre.org organization page telling community members who is managing the account, with links to individual staff pages. This way people know who's behind the logo!
