telecentre.org

The telecentre.org social investment program strengthens telecentre networks and builds a more resilient telecentre ecosystem. Drawing on a funding pool from three social investors — Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Microsoft, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) — the program provides grants and technical assistance to telecentre networks around the world. The social investment program is organized around five initiatives, outlined below. (You can learn more about us by downloading our business plan, although it has evolved in the last two years.)

  • telecentre.org Academy — Providing telecentre managers with ongoing training, capacity building, and professional development opportunities
  • Content & Services — Developing products and services that telecentres can offer to communities
  • Knowledge Sharing — Supporting the widespread sharing of ideas, learning, and best practices
  • Network Support — Helping people come together to make telecentres more effective, sustainable, and valuable to the communities they serve
  • Research — Investigating how telecentres impact social and economic development

But telecentre.org is much bigger than just a social investment program. telecentre.org is a community that gathers people and organizations from around the world who believe that telecentres have an important role to play in development. And we'd like you to get involved.
