Uproar over Kenya internet costs

The Kenyan Government has accused the East Africa Marine system (TEAMs) shareholders of colluding to fix internet connectivity prices.

Information and Communication PS Bitange Ndemo said the shareholders are making a massive 2,000 per cent from selling their capacity before the cable officially goes live. The shareholders have said that they will first have to recoup their investment before lowering the internet connectivity prices.

Trade in counterfeit products is still raging on in Kenya in the face of weak anti-counterfeit laws, a dormant anti-counterfeit agency and a porous border. Now manufacturers are calling for strict enforcement of anti-counterfeit measures to curb trade in counterfeits and consolidate economic growth.

Kenyan MPs launch website to drum support for tribunal

Kenya MPs pushing for a special tribunal to try post-election violence suspects launched a website to seek public support.The website www.endimpunityinkenya.org was launched in Nairobi with a call on the civil society, religious groups and the public to give their input to improve the proposed Bill.

Tax waive on airtime will boost ICT growth in Kenya

With mobile communication popularity on the rise, all eyes are on Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta to see if he will reduce or waive taxes on airtime and mobile phones.
