IT Could Have Been You! My Poem On HIV/AIDS

It could have been you
It could have been you
So show me love
It could have been you
So don't make me the more sad
Oh! this dreadful disease
This Acquired Immune Deficiency
Syndrome
Has taken my freedom
Give me your hand
And by my side always stand
My identity has not changed
So don't let me look strange
Please spare me the criticism
And stop the ostracism
I have learnt my lesson
But I want to be like any normal person
So give me your hand
And by me always stand

Ghana on course to realise its ICT vision

Ghana is on course to meet and exceed telephone penetration targets for universal Internet access by 2012, according to Minister of Communications Benjamin Aggrey-Ntim.

"In the relative short period since the development of our national ICT vision, Ghana has witnessed appreciable growth in the ICT sector. Telephone subscription has hit the eight million mark, giving a telephone density of nearly 40%," said Aggrey-Ntim earlier this month at the ITU Africa Region Preparatory Meeting for the World… Continue

Hey, Internet fraud is really eating deep into the Ghanaian fabric and i find this very worrying. It is becoming a craze among the youth of Tamale who are internet users.

Lets communicate more and see what we can jointly do.

Hello Jacob,
Hey, Thanks a lot for the comments. I hope you had a good time to rest. I know how hard you guys work at One Village. I am also hiding in my small corner in Tamale trying to follow the trends in the ICT4D world. I am currently thinking of a project for the youth. Hey, maybe, we can both come together to see if we can put a few programs together for the youth. I am really concerned for the youth of Tamale (The internet users) They are picking up internet fraud. Maybe a few programs to teach them Internet etiquette will help redirect their use into more profitable and socially acceptable use.
What do you think?

Cheers!

Hi there Jacob
Thanks for taking the time to have a look at the site - and for your encouraging words. We certainly do have plans to expand to Ghana later this year and are redesigning the site to accommodate African collaboration in a way that NGOs can derive benefit from the various technology programmes we will be or are running.

I have read a bit about technology villages and would love to know more and perhaps develop some content around the actual programmes that are running. I would also very much like to know the technology needs of digital villages. It would be great to learn from your needs so that we can incorporate it into the products and services we tailor make for your country.

Looking forward to hearing from you
Kind regards
Marlene

Hello Jacob,
Thanks for the post. Yes, it was sad you were unable to make it for the Wireless Connectivity Workshop organised by IICD in Salaga in support of the Community Information Centre / telecentre in Salaga. It went on very well and i do hope that they will be able to reach sustainability.
How are you doing at Winneba One Village Foundation?

Lets keep communicating.

Stephen here.
