Empowering Communities through Telecentres' Networking and Knowledge Sharing/Community Content Facilitator, Middle East and North Africa

Karim is coordinating a project to support telecentres through networking and knowledge sharing in Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa. It is part of a global Networking supported by Telecentre.org programme (by social investor: IDRC-Microsoft-SDC).

Karim has been working on telecentres since 1999, when almost the first telecentre was introduced to Egypt and the region under the name; the Technology Access Community Center TACC in Sharkia, North East of Cairo. He has served in different UNDP projects and duty stations in both Egypt and Lebanon. Telecentres, ICT4D, and community development are the areas of his working experience. He has some freelancing experience in areas like youth work, volunteer work and intercultural learning.
Areas of interest/expertise and types of services provided:
Egypt ICT Trust Fund has different areas of intervention using ICT as a tool. Supporting SMEs, Telecentres, Education, Women, agriculture, remote communities (Mobile IT Club/telecentre), Illiteracy eradication among others. The Telecentre Networking and Knowledge Sharing project has several knowledge sharing tools such as; Mail list, Telecentre Times, Web portal, workshops and meetings.
