About Me (biography and organization description)
I am a sociologist by education and training and a researcher by vocation. Since the last three and half years, I have been working on projects dealing with telecentre networks, telecentres and telecentre issues. My background in rural development projects has been helpful in appreciating the pros and cons of ICT for Rural Development (ICT4RD).

The organisation I work for, Centre for Science, Development and Media Studies (CSDMS), formerly known as Centre for Spatial Database Management and Solutions, is a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) located at Noida, near India’s capital- New Delhi. It has been actively involved in the field of development research since 1997, and is continuously striving towards achieving greater heights through a wide spectrum of activities.

To realise its development goals, CSDMS brings out publications on five thematic areas: 'i4d', 'eHEALTH', 'digitalLEARNING', 'egov', and 'telecentre magazine', which are available both in print and online versions. CSDMS also provides platforms for sharing knowledge to partners through globally renowned conferences like e-Asia and e-India, which attract academicians and researchers from all accross the globe.
Areas of interest/expertise and types of services provided:
The sociology of ICTs, ICT4D, ICT4RD and telecentre research.
