Change does not just happen, we collectively make it happen

I wrote my first ever blog at telecentre.org and won the blog contest. This achievement gave me confidence that we are doing tremendous job here. I always feel privileged to be a member of telecentre.org because I am getting opportunities to share and learn from others. I was thinking to invite my fellow colleagues who are working at grass root level to share their experience like me with this global community.

Our little effort can make them smile!

I spent my first four days of this week at Jhenidaha region for a monitoring and evaluation visit at Usha telecentre, running with the technical support of D.Net. During my visit in community our mobile lady Nilu told me about a school which is providing education in natural environment. It was loving surprise to here that teachers of this remote area are aware about the importance of natural environment for better education. I was interested to visit the school and when reached there I found th… Continue

Computer Teaches Everyday English (CTEE): ICT based education content for quality education

Knowledge on computer application and excellent communication skills in English is essential for self development. In this backdrop, the children and youths in rural area of Bangladesh are in most disadvantaged stage rather than the urban one. Due to inadequate educational resources and opportunities in the rural area, they often migrate to the urban. Presence of native culture in the learning materials is also essential. Beside this education materials should be developed making sure that the m… Continue

Do not rush! Talk to the community people to find their information requirement

Last five days I was at kurigram, a remote district of Bangladesh in monitoring and evaluation visit. PASS, a local NGO established a telecentre in this area with the technical assistance of D.Net. One of my responsibilities is to respond infomediaries inquiries related to telecentre services. Durin… Continue

Gender Development: A Bangladesh Perspective

Gender studies take us straight into peoples most private lives and this immediately brings the role of the researcher into question. Empowerment becomes the first and most essential requirement of both planning and development. The researcher must examine the specific articulation of patriarchy in private as well as public space. In old fashioned feminist terms, the personal becomes political. In gender studies seeking to lead us out of the impasse, development is defined in terms of the person… Continue

Field visit experience

Last one and half month we (me and my research team) visited 25 schools for data collection for our research. Most of our schools are situated in very remote area. Some times we had to change transport for 5 times. Several times we had to walk on the village road filled up with dust and under sun. Many times it happens that after reaching the target school we have to wash ourselves so that people can recognize us!
